# Gofile Downloads Slow or Limited? Here's the Fix Last updated: 2026-09-23 Gofile doesn't publish a hard download cap, but free downloads are throttled in speed, wrapped in ads, and depend on whichever storage server holds your file being online. When a server is busy or offline, downloads crawl or fail outright, and Gofile pushes premium for guaranteed speed. If you're sharing a file rather than hosting your own library, there's a simpler fix. [Upload Files Now](https://storage.to/) - Unlimited downloads - No speed throttling - No wait timers - No transfer quotas ## Why storage.to? - **No Speed Throttling**: storage.to never throttles downloads. Every file is served at full speed via Cloudflare CDN, no premium tier required. - **Always-On CDN Delivery**: Files are served from Cloudflare's global edge, not a single storage server that might be busy or offline. - **No Fake Download Buttons**: Recipients click the link and get the file. No ad gates, no fake download buttons, no interstitials. - **No Account Needed**: Share files without making recipients sign up or sit through upsells to download. ## How It Works 1. **Upload to storage.to Instead** - If you're sharing a file, upload it to storage.to (up to 25GB). No account needed. 2. **Share the Link** - Send the storage.to link instead of the Gofile link. No throttling, no pop-ups for recipients. 3. **Everyone Downloads at Full Speed** - Recipients click and download immediately via CDN, no matter how many people grab the file. ## Perfect For - **Game Mods & Files**: Share mods without recipients fighting slow Gofile servers or ad gates mid-download. - **Large Archives**: Share project archives that download at full speed every time, not whenever the server frees up. - **Video Files**: Share video files without throttled downloads or quality-killing reuploads. - **Group Sharing**: When many people need the same file, Gofile's free throttling makes everyone wait. CDN delivery doesn't. - **Software Distribution**: Distribute large files to testers or users without bandwidth restrictions or ad redirects. - **Quick Transfers**: When you just need a file to land with someone right now, at full speed. ## Frequently Asked Questions ### Does Gofile have a download limit? Gofile doesn't publish a hard quota, but free downloads are speed-throttled, served with ads, and depend on the storage server holding your file being online. In practice that means slow or failed downloads, especially on busy or offline servers. ### Why are my Gofile downloads so slow? Free Gofile downloads are throttled, and your file lives on a single storage server. If that server is under load or down, speeds drop sharply or the download fails. Premium removes the throttle, but you have to pay. ### Does storage.to have any download limits? No. No transfer quotas, no bandwidth caps, no speed throttling, and no pop-ups. Files are served via Cloudflare CDN at full speed, every time. ### Is storage.to free like Gofile? Yes. Upload up to 25GB per file with no account, and recipients download for free at full speed. Free uploads auto-expire after a few days, while Premium, from $5/month, keeps files permanently and takes files up to 100GB each. ### Should I stop using Gofile? Gofile works for free long-term hosting if you can live with the throttling and ads. But for sharing a file with someone now, the friction adds up. Use storage.to when you want the download to just work. ## No Throttling, No Pop-Ups Upload up to 25GB and share with a link. Recipients download at full speed via CDN, every time. Free.
