- [What does the person I send a file to see?](https://storage.to/help/what-recipient-sees): Your link opens a storage.to download page with a preview, the file's size and when it expires. They click Download to start. They don't need an account, and links never start downloading on their own.
- [Is there a download speed limit?](https://storage.to/help/download-speed): No. Downloads are never throttled or capped, on any plan. Files are delivered from a global network with locations in 300+ cities, so speed depends only on the recipient's connection.
- [Can I resume an interrupted download or upload?](https://storage.to/help/resume-transfer): Downloads can be resumed: storage.to supports HTTP range requests, so most browsers and download managers pick up where they stopped. Uploads over 50 MB go up in chunks; if one is interrupted, the partial data is cleaned up and you can simply upload the file again.
- [What happens when a file expires?](https://storage.to/help/file-expired): When a file reaches its expiry date, the link shows a page saying it has expired and free downloads stop. Paid members can still download a file that has just expired for a limited time, so a missed file can often be rescued. To keep files online, set a longer expiry before it runs out, or use a paid plan where files never expire.

- [What is the file size limit?](https://storage.to/help/file-size-limit): Each file can be up to 25 GB on the free plan and up to 100 GB on a paid plan. A collection can hold up to 10,000 files and 25 GB in total, or up to your plan's storage on a paid plan.
- [How long are files kept?](https://storage.to/help/how-long-kept): Free files expire after 3 days by default, and you can choose anywhere from 1 to 7 days. On a paid plan, files never expire: they stay until you delete them.
- [Can I change when a file expires?](https://storage.to/help/change-expiry): Yes. Pick an expiry from 1 to 7 days when you upload, then extend or shorten it from the file's settings any time before it expires. On a paid plan you can also set it to never expire.
- [Are there upload or download limits?](https://storage.to/help/upload-limits): Downloads are unlimited: no caps and no throttling. Without an account, uploads are limited to 100 GB per 24 hours, and to 50 files per 24 hours from the apps and the API (2,500 on the website). A free account removes both limits.
- [Which file types aren't accepted?](https://storage.to/help/file-types): Almost everything is accepted. The exceptions are Windows executables (.exe, .scr, .com, .pif) and, temporarily, Android and iOS app installers (.apk, .ipa).

- [Is storage.to encrypted?](https://storage.to/help/encryption): Yes, with two layers: TLS 1.3 on every connection, and AES-256 for stored files. It isn't end-to-end encryption, so for very sensitive files, encrypt them before uploading.
- [How do I password-protect a file?](https://storage.to/help/password-protect): Open the settings on any file or collection and set a password of 4 to 100 characters. Recipients must enter it before downloading. You can change or remove it any time before the file expires.
- [Can a file delete itself after it's downloaded?](https://storage.to/help/burn-after-reading): Yes. Set a download limit (burn after reading) and the file deletes itself once it has been downloaded that many times, anywhere from 1 to 1,000. Set it to 1 for a one-time share.
- [Can storage.to see my files?](https://storage.to/help/can-you-see): We don't look at your files. Uploads are checked against known malware and illegal content, and files reported for abuse are reviewed. For full privacy, encrypt files before uploading.

- [How do I delete a file I shared?](https://storage.to/help/delete-file): Open the file's settings menu and choose Delete, or delete it from your dashboard if you're signed in. The link stops working straight away.
- [How do I delete my account?](https://storage.to/help/delete-account): Go to Account settings and choose Delete account. It permanently deletes your account and every file stored in it, and it can't be undone.
- [How do I report abuse or get help?](https://storage.to/help/report-abuse): Use the Report link on any download page, or email support@storage.to. A person reads every message.
- [How do I report copyright infringement?](https://storage.to/help/copyright): Send a takedown notice through our DMCA form with the link to the file and proof that you own the rights. We remove infringing files and close repeat infringers' accounts.
